“You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought
Matthew 23;11-12“Do you want to stand out? Then step down. Be a servant. If you puff yourself up, you’ll get the wind knocked out of you. But if you’re content to simply be yourself, your life will count for plenty.
So relax ….. God knows your shortfalls, He made you. There is something so awesome about being in the presence of someone who is content with who they are….comfortable in their own skin. Isn’t it stressful to be in the presence of someone who isn’t content with who they are, but are rather insecure about who they are? Insecure people seem to need constant affirmation or attention. They tend to be either very judgmental, because they have to bring others down to feel better about themselves, or they are addicted to the approval of others. I was the latter. I was shackled -up to the opinion of others. I was discontent with who I was, and so sought the approval of other people to the point that it controlled me. Nothing was more awful than when I was in a situation where I couldn’t please everyone. For so many years I struggled to be content with who God made me to be. I compared myself to other people, and to their gifts, talents, circumstances, successes. I diminished everything God was doing for me and had done for me , because I wasn’t content with just who He had made me to be. It was a special kind of bondage that God wanted to free me from.
The Lord definitely wants to grow us in grace and knowledge, becoming more Christlike as we abide in Him. He also wants us to be free in the contentment of who He made us to be…..but if you’re content to be yourself, your life will count for plenty.
