Training your brain to wait

“But these things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” Habakkuk 2:3 LB

I’m not so great at waiting. How about you?

Are you plagued by impatience?

I don’t know about you, but when I hear God telling me something I automatically assume He means “now.”

I am a “don’t just sit there, do something kind of person.  Henry Blackeby says “don’t just do something, sit there until God tells you when and what He wants you to do.  My “do something” mindset has caused me frustration in waiting and struggle in action. When I get ahead of God, things never seem to go well. When I sense God saying “wait” I hardly ever do so happily. And, whats worse, I begin to doubt what God said if He doesn’t do it on my timetable. I have had to train my brain to wait on God’s timing. He’s never late….train your brain to hurry up, sit around, and wait on God.  Just like in the verse above you’ll have the peaceful confidence that “these things will come to pass”.
